ok im still getting nowhere. went out to 307cis today and played around with his computer and we still cant connect. i added the program to the windows firewall but absolutely could not find anywhere in his norton 2010 to let it through. that program is complete utter sh!t. when we tried connecting we both attempting hosting while the other tried to join. for each time i tried or hosted i changed settings in my router such as the dmz setting which had no effect. but after looking in my router some more i have a couple questions: (this is under the Qos tab) should i add the game here as well as on the port forwarding tab? this is how its set up now: im thinking of adding the game to the Qos as well as having the ports forwarded. some way i will get this to work. within the next week or two once i finish my cisco cirriculum im getting a computer from the school for free that im gonna reformat and put xp on it...weve got the disk that has sp1 on it so i will put that on and leave it as that.

ok im still getting nowhere. went out to 307cis today and played around with his computer and we still cant connect. Its best to remove one variable. You have two computers that can't connect and even if you get one to work and the other not you won't be able to know if you have one working. Your computer might be set up perfectly. That is why I kept my IP connnections open for 4days so people could see if they could make contact. I got 8 people who made connections. I was keeping an eye out for you incase you attempted. I removed Norton from my one XP. Tell me what you really think, don't hold back... LOL. Interesting feature. Sure do it. Each router is different in format. You have a separate TRIGGER menu. It should look similar to what you are doing. Which all looks right. You need to set the trigger. With regards to XP Firewall. It has to be set to allow. That will allow a local LAN set up if the router is configured properly. That was what held me up. Then you have to ADD those ports you listed on the router and open them on XP. On another note, "Derbyfun" has XP and he connected to my game without doing one thing. I asked, what did you do, he said, he typed in the IP address, LOL. Somepeople have all the luck. It is possible to be able to join a game and not be able to host a game because of the firewall settings. It would be wise for you to try to establish a connection with my computer because it appears you have your router under control. You know what you are doing. You need to test with someone else that has a workign connection. Once you know you are good to go, you can get 307cis taken care of. it will be much easier then 2nd guessing what youare doing.

I had my nephew over on the weekend. He liked it and had W7. I lent it to him and said, see if you can get this to work on your computer. About 45 minutes later I got an email saying its running. I have asked for a reply on what he did. Particularly, if he got the colours matched. I have heard of others getting the game to work on W7 but the colours are psychedelic. As soon as I get his reply email. I will post a how to.

Here is how my router is setup when its gametime. After this adding ports to the firewall and allowing access like you did with the router is key.

well i got my local LAN to able to play a game. so i will add the game under the Qos tab when i get home today. do i also need to add those ports to the triggered ports? if i still have a failed connection i will try adding the ports to the computer. most of the time ive tried connecting ive been using my laptop that has vista on it. yep i agree with you i need to test with someone i know has a working connection. so ill be looking through your schedule and finding a time thatll work. then i can attempt for 307ci. i should also have him try to connect to you or somebody else that has a working connection. he doesnt have a router so we dont have to worry there. he had the 1.22 version of the game under the allowed list in his windows firewall, so i added the 1.0 version yesterday for him. if he is unable to connect to you it is definitely his norton and that is going to be quite an issue...

Yes, version 1.0 and version 1.22 both connect regardless of version and mixes. I can do a session special session tonight if you are interested. Otherwise it will be thursday or next week.
If you have time tonight let me know and maybe I can make some time available. No time available before 5 Eastern Standard. I believe there is two hours difference for us. 3PM mountain.

Windows 7 Notes:
When installing the game, it must go into the Program X86Folder for 32bit software and not the General Program folder which is apparently for 64bit programs.
Run DDCFG.EXE that comes with the download and
select software
Run in Windows 98 Compatibility mode.
My tester has two Windows 7 Computers.
WITHIN THE GAME... you may have to set the video to 640*480 or 800*600 for it to load succesfully without crashing. His laptop only seems to work in 640*480 but his desktop is fine.
Hopefully I am not missing a step. These are chicken scratch notes from a phone conversation.
