Cody your smoking crack. to build a GOOD model for example a GOOD 76 caprice build you need the 76 caprice kit (for the body and bumpers)$20-$25 then you need a 67 impala kit price varies from $20 all the way up to $30 (for the frame, suspension and interior tub.Motor optional) then you got a good set of tires $10. boat tank/fuel cell $3. headers $5. optima battery $2. this is NOT counting whatever material you use to make the roll cage and core support or chain or weld the doors closed with. here is your break down
76 kit= $20-25 67 kit=$20-30 tires= $10 fuel cell=$3 headers=$5 optima battery=$2
TOTAL= you easily have $75 in a 76 caprice build IF you bought all the tires battery headers and fual tank from another supplier ( like me) then you pick up the 76 and 67 off like ebay so i don't know where your getting your figures from little guy

im with rob on this one lookin at 30-40 bucks in the cars alone to build a nice 76 chevy other style are cheeper to build parts you can really rack up alot of money into depending onhow much detail you want really helps if you can make yur own parts for a build like that i would charge at least 100 for a base price depending on how much detail wanted

as do ii, ithink our story with our models is abput the same, i ussually sell my models for 40 to 50 bucks and make 20 or 30 profit, but since you sell them that cheap that makes them more affordable and people will buy them more

its all about the detail you put into it the more time put into it the more its gonna cost.. also i am not in the model makin business to get rich quick its just a hobby of mine and i sell just to help the fellow builder out

i just do it because its a job i like and if i get a little profit great!, if not i had fun doing it, and might end up with some extra supplies from the model

I like doing it but I will not build with out making a good profit. I am glad you younger ones are enjoying building also if not the hobby would die and to me that is the worst part. Keep on modeling and some day you will be building for bigger money and be considered a pro builder. Those guys build and get some were from $300-700 for some models. I still feel after 30 years of building mine is more a hobby and not pro building but I love it. I would not build one of mine for under $100 for a customer but thats my opinion. I have to much into one to sell for less then that. I get some were between $35-50 in most my own I can have upwards of $75-125 in one car and that gets crazy money for some of the younger one on here. I remember when you could build a real 70s Impala for that kind of money. Thats crazy. Wish I saved more of those cars and sell them now.
