I have heard many things since I am friends with a large group of people over there. Both good and bad things.
Well tory "sold"? the site over to Sam Williams and Wade Wikksnk (spelling?) Those 2 guys are the creators / owners of UD, ultimate derby website. They created UD to be a giant derby parts warehouse, so all other derby companies can supply their products in this warehouse. So now everyone can come to 1 website and view every derby product for sale.
The downfall is that every derby business now has to pay a Monthly fee in order to advertise / work with ultimate derby. I believe this is going to hurt the smaller derby companies that are just getting started.
Since Ultimate Derby now owns wecrash, they are redesigning the whole site (soon to be released) and they now have power over EVERYTHING that happens on wecrash. Basicly that means a company now controls a derby message board that was originaly meant to be "By The Drivers, For The Drivers" I guess they saw wecrashtoo as a threat to steal away customers that would use their message board. So they eliminate the chance for this site to advertise on their message board.
Now don't get me wrong here. I am neither FOR or AGAINST the creation of the Ultimate Derby Warehouse company. I do believe it will help sell more derby products and make it easier for buyers. (They accept credit cards online)
But I do not like the idea of a business controlling a message board. Tory or someone else, should be incharge of the message board, and have a partnership with UD. Not have it all controlled by one owner. (or 2 in this case)
** I am sure I do not know all the details, so I may be slightly wrong on some things. But this is the basics I have gathered so far. I, myself, also sent Sam Williams a PM on wecrash, asking permission to put wecrash on my website and for me to be allowed to post my derby work on their forum. ...still no response since sending 4 days ago.

Its unfortunate in many ways, and sounds like they are forming a bit of a monopoly in the derby market. But there are many benefits as well. At least at the end of the day we still control the videos we post on YouTube .

Yes sir, at least we got that. I'm just concerned at what else they will not allow on the new forum.

All these changes may bring more guys over to this site because its for the drivers, by the drivers and not a commercialized format.

I don't understand why drivers would buy derby parts from anyone...I can see car parts, like if i need a 9" ford rearend, but pre-made derby car parts?? Where i am from we build what we need, thats one of the best parts about demo derby. Whether it be modified derby or stock, you get to engineer and build your own parts.(to a point anyhow....while sticking with the rules ;D) I guess when guys see a way to market something for financial gain, rather then helping someone with plans on how to build it themselves then you lose a great site. Whats next? derby cars for sale pre-built with warranties?(if this car doesnt last for atleast 10 mins.,then we will give you a discount on your next build".... " offer restricted to a 5 car minimum purchase"...lol ;D
I also sent the new owners a pm asking for explanations, but yet to get an answer, so we shall see what happens i guess.... talk to you all later, Scott

i tend to like to buy my parts due to them already have been tested and proven by someone else its just easier and when time is limited it really helps.....
but the warehouse thing i dont like because they jack the prices up on everything so thye can make money why not go to the source 90% of the venders acept paypal so you can use yur credit cards through that its what i have always done..... and i like how they claim its the 1 stop shop and its not... there is still a few things missing
ive read the thread that crusher71 started about it being an ultimate monopoly and such and there was alot of valid points said....

When there's a middle man prices go up.Since companies have to pay the annual fees.I prefer to keep it as it was.I wouldn't be surprised if guys came over here to start selling stuff. This company only hurts the drivers during our already hard economy. This warehouse would also hurt prices due to the shipping of items twice.... that comes out of buyers pocket aswell.Me personally I only buy things I cannot make myself such as ear's for 9's I have a plasma cutter but cannot make a perfect circle for bushings. Look they banned Crusher71 again.Yeah the guy has a bad attitude but so does Scott Gropp too sometimes in my opinion. But are those reasons to ban someone? If your not man enough to turn the other cheek who is to blame? I think the classifieds section should be modified here rather than the state by state because people are willing to have things shipped.Make this board more driver friendly I'm sure others will start to come here ^^^Some things to think about^^^^^^

I post on this site more than wecrash. Used to be the other way around but I guess certain things that have been going on over there have left negative impression. It used to be a site for the drivers, now seems like it is just a place to make a buck. I really hope this site doesn't sell out. Hopefully it remains purely for drivers and passion overcomes greed. Ill make every part I can with the means I have.

I posted this on the Proboards Wecrash which came out of the new Wecrash site terms. This whole thing just seems super sketchy...
The ads are annoying. And then in the site agreement it says this: Wtf? 19. PROHIBITED USES (d) while, using the Website and Services, use "ad blocking" software or similar built-in web browser options designed to hide, block or prevent the proper display of online advertising;
And then as stated above: 13. FEES
Access to the Website and use of the Services is free. You acknowledge and agree that UD reserves the right to charge for access to the Website and use of the Services and to change its fees from time to time in UD’s sole discretion. UD also reserves the right to establish different levels of membership that may or may not have different fee structures associated with them at it’s sole discretion.
^^That just seems fishy.
And the last thing I found odd in the site terms: a) By Ultimate Derby
WITHOUT LIMITING ANY OTHER PROVISION OF THIS AGREEMENT, ULTIMATE DERBY RESERVES THE RIGHT TO, IN ULTIMATE DERBY’S SOLE DISCRETION AND WITHOUT NOTICE OR LIABILITY, DENY USE OF THE WEBSITE AND/OR SERVICES TO ANY PERSON FOR ANY REASON OR FOR NO REASON AT ALL.
