Got some varied general compact questions, and figured no better place to ask them than on here to ya'll! 1. How do you feel about moving the gas tank, but still using the stock gas lines? Seems alot cheaper, but is it effective? 2. Is hardnosing worth the time on a compact (namely, 93 Ford Tempo)? I got a few old 70's steel bumpers, just not sure if its worth it. 3. Best way to bend the backend? I was gonna sledgehammer some lines across trunk floor and lid where I want it to bend...or use a skidloader bucket. 4. Should I weld the doors/trunk on a compact? Or will it be just as strong with chains and bolts? Answer anything you can please! Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Well some updates to these, 1. We're gonna use the stock lines, just seems like it'll be effective still. 2. I'm not allowed to hardnose where I'm running it, so that is ruled out. However! The other two questions are still up for any tips/ideas

I have a chance to run in My first Herbie derby. Will be a 79 AMC spirit. I will admit this is all new territory for me so please any and all feedback is welcome. Supposedly the car is already built but to what extent im not sure. So what's everything that normally is a problem with this type of compact during the derby?

YOU...YOU GET TO DRIVE THE KID'S CAR Ok for the show dont worry about the 88 Saab 9000 hachback it only goes in reverse and also the 95 Caviler it is just a one day chain built. On Clints wagon go after the front tires or left rear and everything else is a good rule of thumb if it is front wheel drive front tire shoot the CV joints and struts cant turn the car is done. The one car that Kid was scared of ask what number and tell us so we can take him out fast. I still need to pick my car up from Matt in Miles City and strip it. Oh and dont forget to repaint the number this time ;D

LOL, the Derby Strategy cracks me up... That Said, If Engineer Guy still comes on this forum, I thought he built a Spirit a few years ago. Not certain how much work he put into it.. hard to tell from the pictures I saw of it.
