I've gotten the game to work before, but I tried to add custom cars and it said dsll.32 file missing.
So, I uninstalled and tried to reinstall, but now I can't even get it to extract form the zip. And when I try to run it directly out of the zip it won't let me select run as admin...
Help? I have skype and ventrilo if it would be easier for someone to tell me directly.
Thanks guys, and by the way this is my introduction as well. I played a lot of flatout UC, but the damage just isn't realistic and I always turn off nitrous.
Anyway, I joined this because I want to be able to play with people online on DDF8, and get it working again.

I will link you a DSLL32 file. It sounds like it didn't write when you installed teh game.
You are correct, you must xtract from the zip, then RUN as Administrator to install the game, especially on a Vista or W7 computer. On and XP or older its not normally a problem.
Be Right back...

Thanks for the help but I got it set up now. Took me a little while, but I got myself and my brother set up on it. Now the only problem I have is figuring out how to get the modded cars and tracks in there. Speaking of (I haven't looked at the modded tracks yet) are there any smaller mud/dirt tracks? I think it'd be a lot of fun to stuff 12-16 cars in a realistically sized/textured track.
Thanks again, -Mo

So I'm still having troubles getting the modded cars into the folders. Won't allow it? Also I've done it before and it's caused my game to crash and not work... Any one want to explain this to me?

I have v1.22 installed, but I cannot connect to anyone online. It will let me host it, but I was also wondering if I could've possible messed up the v1.22 install. I just did it in the demoderby folder. Is that where it should be?

If you can host a derby you can join a derby.
1) Make sure all ports 2300 to 2400 TCP AND UDP are opened. 2) Make sure 6073 TCP and UDP are opened.
3) Make sure WIRELESS ROUTER is port forwarded to those ports or set to DMZ 3a) Some new MODEMS have Security built in, make sure it has those same ports forwarded or set to DMZ
ANTI VIRUS PROGRAMS LIKE NORTON, (and it seems people are strangely putting on more then one anti virus program on their computers) These programs will block the game. Set them to gaming mode or better yet remove them. There are lots of Anti virus/Anti Spyware that slow the game to a crawl online or kill it after a minute or so as well.
When you load the game it will say verison 1.22 on the bottom left of the main screen.
I have my host computers offline until September. OR I would let you test and troubleshoot as I normally do. Currently doing a rennovation so they are in boxes for the time being.
THere are alot of ONLINE help threads available on bmelms and strassmans ddf8 forums.
Each year a new device or software is released to block the game lol....
See if you can set up the game in a local network within your house.
I will be doing alot of online derbies come fall again.
