plate the Y or get a shock bumper with shocks and stuff the shocks into the Y and weld it in there solid and you pretty much got a shocker except the frame is just a little thinner, but these cars can be very good with a little work stuck into them

ive been doing alot of research on these cars, and i really want to run one, but heres a few different pics of how to prepare the Ys on these cars well first is a picture comparing a sub frame imp sub and a Y frame sub, you can definately tell why the Y framers are weaker just a pic of a Y frame sub alone 3 pics of a plated Y pics of a bumper hardnosed directly to the plate in front of the Y, it also has a plate on the one side pics of a bumper shock pushed into a Y and welded up Hope these pictures help for the ppl that build Y frame mopars

So I asked this on the other forum with no response. I am building a 69 polara for a pretty much stock show. I can weld the bumper to the bracket and bracket to frame but it has to be stock bracket to the car. The pics of the bumper hard nosed to the frame w/the sides plated is mine but I cant plate the frame or close the Y this time. So my question is would a 5 mph bumper be to strong for the Y and I read on the other forum that the stock 73 bumpers from this era were the best to use. So Any help would be greatly appreciated. also I read that the motor mounts for this year suck, I will be puting a 318 in it so any help on the motor mounts would be great also.

heres wat i would personally do, get like a 77 monte bumper, relocate the original brackets to the side of the Y and weld the crap out of them then weld the monte bumper to that bracket as solid as you can and as close to the frame as possible.... once again just wat i would personally do....... and for motor mounts use the 74-78 motor mounts and then chain them down....... dont take any of my word as gospel, ive never ran one (altho i want to really badly) ive just read on them ALOT

Ive got a rear from a 76 grand prix thats in great shape. I wonder if that would be strong enough to be competitive but weak enough to not destroy the Y.
