Drive it like a subframe imperial, guard the ass and hit with the nose.If ya can legally weld the frame seems put a pointy on the nose,if not run a flat bumper.all for now, hemi.

saw a 76 newport ran last year, the passenger side bumper shock tore off and WOW did that thing crumble, but if u can keep the bumper on they are awesome cars, i got a 74 newport this year im goin to run

I would take the shocks right off and weld the bumper to the frame

dont know how well u can see it but the orange car is the 76 newport i was talking about, as u can see the passanger side i really bent up and here the orange car is in the backround after the derby, it only lasted one heat, all cuz he didnt secure his bumper shocks also ive heard the if u weld rite to the frame on these cars that the frame will bend funny and not take as much impact

never ran one but I'd also hardnose the bumper after running 5th aves with the bumper shocks and seeing the shocks do funky things I'd hardnose just about any mopar now

I hard nose all my Mopars with the no weld bumper brackets from AFAB. If you do it right and weld the shock can back on, you can pass inspection at a stock derby..........

cut the fender off that hangs down in front of the tires, it causes problems,,, these cars also have terrible core supports so change them if u can,,, tuck the trunk and put just a very small notch where the bumpers shocks end, some stratigecly placed allthread does wonders too because of the rear unibody on these cars, also add hump plates and/or add leafs if allowed to,,, also those BB motors are of the best derby motors you can get imo, its really hard to beat the heat to power ratio they have heres some pics of a shocker sub frame
