okay I've got a question about doing this cause I'm doing it to all my cars this yr do you wedge the car first then weld the seams we di it last yr I call it a half wedge we made it start to V but we stopped cause the welds started ripping I'm thinking that I have to wedge it first then weld right? thanks guys

beat it down with a sledge till it looks about what you want it to look like, then weld it all up. Fine tune your work with a heavy ballpean after its welded. If your creasing your doors I do recomend doing that after its welded. And I have been wanting to try a jackhammer with the 4 inch round bit to wedge a trunk, sounds like fun and a loy less work.

alright guys not really sure where to post this but here it is I tucked and wedged my 82 merc and I think I did some things wrong what did I do right and wrong here are a few pics this is the first wedged car I have done constructive criticism is alright I can handle it thanks for the imput guy/gals heres the the rear bumper is going to be pushed in all the way to the taillight panel

I forgot to mention an important step in wedging. If you want a true flat wedge, you have to remove the speaker deck. Cut it out completly and throw the flimsy piece of $#@! in the scrap pile. Now put a high lift jack between the tunk lid and the roof, jack it up till the trunk touches the floor, weld trunk to floor.

And beat that tail light panel flat, and beat the spare tire area up till its level with the floor. If you haven't welded it down yet, cut out the speaker deck and beat that trunk flat, you will be a lot happier withthe results if you do.

I haven't welded it yet and I was wondering if I should do that with the spare tire area I'll be doing that today shes getting caged and all welded this weekend then paint thanks alot for the help my goal is to have it roll in thats why I tucked it then started the wedge how big a notch you guys think I should put in it thanks alot for the help guys I apprieciated it.

heres the wedge i did on my 90 vic my first time i think it turned out pretty well just we can weld the trunk lid so its chained shut in 4 places
