yea if you can have it fold up right.. but you have to think the less length on the rear the less leverage their is for it to bend and pressure being put on the humps

General Motors actually came up with that idea many years ago when they produced the round back wagons.

id tuck and notch the rear but thats jmo I picked up that 79 deville yesterday and I think I have decided to tuck the trunk and notch the rear but not sure how far from the back of the frame to notch it and should I notch in one spot or two? I know you guys say to swap the front bumpers and I plan to but what about the rear swap it or run it I saw they are both aluminum backed bumpers. The big block in it runs but I have a good runnin sbc I was gonna put in it. I ran my first sbc last year and I was very impressed, it just wouldnt die. the hotter it got the better it seemed to run. go figure.

the back bumper will be fine on there, and yes notch twice, put a big notch a few inches from the back bumper and put a small notch at the bottom of the humps and also try to prebend the back some they love to go down, change the rear end to a 10 bolt BIA and those BB caddy motors run awesome hot but if you got a good sbc put that in there... hopefully hardhittinu sees this and can help you out more

Should I just cut a triangle shaped notch in both sides of each frame rail at the top or notch all the way across the top of the rail? in both spots,(at the back and at the humps)

Now for the front, I know the fronts of these cars are strong, but is there anything special that needs to be done to make them better. Or just swap the bumper weld it on and go for it. any help would be great.

for the rearend I'd tuck it and then notch it right at your tuck then up by the humps I'd dimple it I've never ran any of my caddys with a rear bumper I'm going to be getting one here in a week or so and I plan on running a monte bumper on the rear of it this yr as for the front swap out the bumper weld it and I've always just put like 235-75 R15s on the nose welded the a-arms down with chain and then if I was allowed put a bead of weld on the top of the seam of the frame and went and it did awesome. I drive all my caddys with the nose I try to keep the nose pointed to the action someone sees a caddy nose coming at them they ussually try to avoid a nose hit from a caddy hope that helps ya out man

I run 700 15s on all my cars, Cant weld the A-arms and cant weld the frame seams. I thought about bolting the A-arms but not real sure how to do it. Not sure what I can get away with. all the techs around here have just recently changed and not quite sure yet what we can get by them.

yup I run 700 15s to sometimes bolting the a-arms down I'm not sure of either I've always done the chaining the a arms down LOL hopefully the techs just skim the cars instead of looking thats what I always hope for but the techs here are getting harder and harder to get things through

Hey Hardhitinu, I been thinkin maybe I can get away with chainin the A-arms, How excactely do you do it. Its not really welding them. Do they still have a little movement. Thats seems to be a pretty big deal with the techs around here that they still have some movement.
