i was talking to a guy the other day about derbys and it came up that he has a 59 newport that he wants to derby but he wants a motor to put in it, so i told him that if i could help build it up for a weld show that he could use my 400 out of my newport after this year,,,,,,,,,, so my question is is wat kind of frame does this car have, he claims it has the same as an imperial but idk cuz ive never seen the car,,,, and also would it even be worth building up for a weld show? from the look of the car it looks like it could be a tank if built up really good,,,,,,, thanks

I'm not sure about the frame but built right it looks as if it could be a tough car. It has that look of an imp in them years. My suggestions would be fold the fins and tuck the trunk weld a good bumper on the front and put in a four point cage.

There were 383's built for a couple years back then that were based on the "RB" engine. Not the "B" block that the more common later 60's 383s are. But Imperials from them years were not 440 cars. 440's didn't go into production until late 64 if I recall. The 413 is commonly found in the Imperials we refer to as the "boxcars" or "full framers".
Regardless Travis, just drop in what ever mopar you want for the easiest swap. Your 400 and 727 trans will work fine. I recommend a cradle for a super easy swap.
