Most places around here won't allow doubling.

How do they check to see if your tires are doubled? Since you cant double, I would run some sheet metal screws into the bead on the back tires, just put them on the back side of the rim and no one will know. At least a flat tire will still spin this way.

I have derbied for nearly 10 years without doubled tires. 8 or 10 ply bias diggers and I have never once had a flat. (knock on wood)

I don't understand why guys are so gung-ho about doubling when the rules don't allow it. its not hard to play by the rules. And doubling is not a "grey" area. last thing I want is to get handed a winning trophy in the arena and have the second place guy look at a tire missing sidewall but still holding air on my car. Could be an embarassing moment in front of hundreds or thousands of people.

we arent even considering doubling. our main focus is finding some good (decent mud tires with some tread) tires and putting tubes in them. and i completely agree with montanas example

Have the local co-op sponser your car. They will likely tube some used light truck tires and mount them for nothing. Many local businesses are willing to help out at the derby/county fair. You never know until you ask.

Well, there you go. Now you just need to talk to some of your neighbors with decent tires into going to the co-op and buy new ones. LOL

backend of car is DONE and the trunk will never be opened again, part of the trunk is a secret so i cant post a pic tho....... also had it firing on all 8 cylinders again since it was only firing on 4 since i put the new carb on it, but i went out today and its popping like before again so i know i got atleast one fouled out plug again....... so time for a few more plugs once again, but even with not all cylinders its running great
