OLD SCHOOL RULES 2010

EVENT WILL CONSIST OF ANY MAKE AND YEAR OF HARDTOP AUTOMOBILES FROM 1950 TO PRESENT EXCLUDING CHRYSLER IMPERIALS OF ANY YEAR( no sub frame conversions).
Frame
No plating of the frame (ANYWHERE) or welding/re-welding of seams (ANYWHERE) unless listed in rules OR for a repair.
Frame repair must be original thickness and cannot exceed 3” past tear. Repairs will be stitch welded 1” on 1” off. A bent frame will NOT be patched (frame must be ripped under the patch).
Open K-frame on Chrysler cars are allowed to be plated with same thickness metal to box frame. Can be welded solid. Must have a hole to verify thickness.
GM 71-73 rear C-frame sections can be boxed using same thickness metal as original frame. Can be welded solid. Must have a hole to verify thickness.
Top seams ONLY of front frame from a-arms forward may be welded.
C-frames rails between the wheels may NOT be boxed.
NO hump plates…. of any kind
Body
Doors must be wired, banded, or welded securely shut. Doors may be welded solid.
Trunk lid must be welded 3” on 3” off, or 6” on 6” off. If trunk is welded solid from pre-run, excess strap must be removed between 3” on 3” off or 6” on 6” off. Slices or x’s in strap will not run.
Hood can NOT be welded shut.
Interior seams may be welded.
Wedged sedans and stationwagons (sedagons) are allowed. Body mounts can NOT go through the trunk lid or roof. Inspection hole must be 12” in trunk lid (or roof) and 18” in trunk floor. Wedges may be drilled to check for reinforcement.
Rear quarter panels can rolled under and bolted or stitch welded to bottom of the trunk floor but may NOT be between the frame and trunk floor. Maximum of (5) ½” max bolts per side.
Bottoms of front fender can be rolled and bolted or stitch welded to core support. (4) ½” bolts max.
9 wire - 2 wraps in 4 locations max from core support to bumper in front and in rear from trunk to bumper. Stationwagons may have one (1) per window area if not wedged.
Front inner fenders may be re-bolted but NOT welded (ANYWHERE).
At least one bar or chain is required in the front window. (2 maximum)
Body Mounts
Body mount bolts 5/8” max in original location. Rubber body mounts may be removed. Washers may NOT be welded in body mount holes.
ABSOLETLY NO WELDING BODY TO FRAME ANYWHERE.
Core support body mounts may be 1” max all thread from frame through core support thru hood and will count as hood bolts. Other hood bolts to be 5/8” max. 6 bolts max.
Suspension
A-arms can be welded to frame top and/or bottom.
Leaf springs conversions: Maximum of 9 leafs per side. 3/8” maximum thickness. Homemade clamps allowed. 3 clamps behind axle and 2 clamps in front of axle per side.Do not weld,bolt ,or glue leafs. Upper and lower trailing arms must be removed on leaf spring conversions.
Rear leaf spring shackles may be welded solid to frame.
Must have working shocks. NO solid shocks/all-thread/chain/… etc.
Upper and lower trailing arms may be reinforced on coil-spring cars.
Tie rods may be reinforced.
Rear-ends
5-bolt rear end max.
Rear-end protectors may be added. Must not extend outside the diameter of the brake backing plates.
Bumpers
Bumpers skins can be welded to inner bumper but NO adding metal.
Bumper ends may be welded but must be able to see inside the ends of the bumper.
Hard-nosing is allowed.
Bumper shocks may be inside the frame for 80’s and newer cars.
Bumper height is 24” maximum and 15” minimum for front and rear for fresh cars. Bumper height is at the discretion of the officials on pre-run cars for safety.
Gas Tanks
Tank must be metal. 6 gallons max. Must be located behind the driver or in the middle of the car. Must be covered to prevent splashes if ruptured.
Floating gas tank protectors are allowed, Must be connected to seat pipe. They can be 18” high by 24” wide max. May not be connected to body anywhere.
Roll-over hoop allowed.
Batteries
Must be re-located to front passenger floor. Must be covered for safety.
Tires
Any ply. Tire-in-tire allowed. Can be filled with air ONLY.
Wheel weights and studs must be removed.
Valve stem protectors allowed.
