as said in the post above download the 1.0 version heres a direct link to the download: www.mediafire.com/?4ynjbgtzzykdownload this instead of the demo version. the demo version is like 1.22 and the game is identical. only difference is the music that plays when the arena is loading. and oh yea...the 1.0 version is the COMPLETE GAME and is FREE!!! so that means multiplayer mode, alot more cars and arenas. so i think we need everyone to download this version and get someone to host a multiplayer game (derbyfreak14??? ). ill look into it some more tmr and see what it all takes OMG...this is the entire game for free? with multiplayer mode too?am i reading this right?...it is late and i am getting tired but someone please verify my question.... ;D YES!

we just have to figure out how the multiplayer thing works. like theres two options for running multiplayer one using tcp/ip which i understand TCP-IP is the one you use. Ignore the other option and it won't be selectable on XP and up. That's correct. You get this from whatsmyip.org although the game will tell you your IP address, manytimes it lists the router IP instead of your actual IP. Correct. When XP came out with SP2 the new Firewall closed all the ports the game used. They must be opened up. If you have a router, which many people now have, such as a wireless router, you either have open the ports on the router or use the routers DMZ feature in order to allow other computers communicate with your computer. THis is true whether you are hosting your own game or using Gamespy. The only other thing to be aware of is.... If you are using Custom Cars.... The game will CRASH unless EVERYONE has that car. Thus if you downloaded the 1960 Cadillac and I didn't and you selected that car as your vehicle in multiplayer.... Everyone online goes down and it takes A LONG TIME TO REBOOT everyones computer and get the connection back. A VERY LONG TIME. So everyone MUST know which cars are allowed. To begin with people should ONLY choose cars that came with the game. Some custom cars use High Resolution bitmaps. Such as the Jesse 1965 Suicide Lincoln. This slows the game down for online play and is jerky. Once you get the Laptop with Vista working, I suggest you play Multiplayer locally if both computers are internet ready. The game will recognise your local network immediately. I have 8 computers working in a local network. The Multi player works great.

How exactly do we open ports I am working on an easy tutorial for it. I can provide links to read if you wish. I sincerely hope your IT teacher misunderstood you. Otherwise you need a competent instructor, because this question is a home run hit for any IT instructor. There is a slim possibility that an ISP will have certain ports blocked. But in general the ports you are opening are the ones Microsoft Closed when they issued Service Pack 2 for XP firewall.

[/quote] yep thats what i figured is that the firewall in sp2 closed the ports because thats what the issue was when i did a remote desktop for another student to their home pc. i dont think she fully understands what i was getting at...

Here are Brandons Quotes just extract it to the C: drive and go to ddcfg to system and it should work go to the c: drive and click and go into the game file and it should have a list and find ddcfg and change it to system And here is another quote for Vista I set the DemoDerby exe to run in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode. Then I ran the DDCfg and changed the selection to "System". I then just ran the game and it does fine for me. By the way, I am currently running version 1.22, it did work fine before I patched though.

ok i got it figured out. change the ddcfg to system and then go into that files properties and change it to run in compatibility mode for win xp sp 2 and it runs fine then...but you lose some graphics quality such as the smoke from a dead car/steam from the radiator. and i also got the ports open so if anyone is interested in trying a multiplayer game post it here or pm me

If you have opened these I congratulate you. And if you have succesffully tested it, I give you a huge round of applause. I still have one problem I haven't overcome yet. So I will be sending you a PM. I want to have a big game in April.

Modified cars should have a separate class file. Unless there is a feature you want all the cars to have. I found that as I got better with the game I could roll over the cars with one well placed hit. So, I made it more difficult for me to roll the cars but still allowed them to be rolled if the hit was big enough. Like that AWESOME PHOTO on this forum where the car is high in the air and nearly going over. 572BB has been good enough to host some of my conversions and you can find them here. www.freewebs.com/fatasscadillac/guestsvehicles.htmThe 49 Mercury is currently a standard class #4 car. I have a new class file for it and it rocks!!! Its faster, stronger and has sound. Some of those cars require you to put in the new class file. If you want to modify your car, read the tutorials and be on the customization forum for advice. The basic is take a class like #4 and copy it. Rename it to something else like Class #168. Try not to use a # already in use. And then start playing with the RPMS, Damage etc. However, if you have a car that you made or you like and you wish to pretend you welded it, hopped it up or gave it better rubber, you can use a class file already made. Don't overwrite your original files!!! Don't overwrite your original files!!!
