I use the $30 implement paint also. I mix mine with thinner and spray it on, get 4-5 cars per gallon.

When times are tuff, I get flat interior paint from walmart, $8 a gallon, mixed any color you want. Peels off kind of easy but works.

You can pretty much use whatever you want. No one knows or cares and its gonna look like crap shortly anyways. But I either buy the cheap implement paint and spray it on with the air gun or buy flat black 'el cheapo spray paint cans from the crappy walmart. In reality, no one in the stands would know if you used interior latex house paint and put it on with a roller.

I used interior paint once. Then it rained 2 days later. The whole hood peeled off in a giant skin of the paint. Outdoor paint for metal is what I use now.

One of my friends tried using the yellow paint they use to paint center lines on roads .....long story short, it plugged the hell out of his spray gun(even though it was thinned out)....reason why: the manufacturer mixes sand with the paint for better adhesion!!! lmao We must have laughed for 5 mins until he figured out what was going on!!!

for my cars I use the oil based implement paint that they use for tractors and stuff but I've never had any luck using a roller to put it on. I just thin it a little so it's easier for a brush to absorb and I brush it on. it takes a while but personally I find it kinda relaxing
