If your going to buy a motor, you should look into getting a small block chevy. Much simpler, and no matter what anybody tells you they will take the heat better then any ford motor.

Have a couple good running stock engines, would take $350 for either one, both are complete ready to drop in. If you still want a 302 I could find one pretty cheap, we actually scrap most of the ones we get out of crown vics and lincolns.

Any thing that you can't take out, just relocate it to the inside of the car,

Yes you 88 ford will have the fuel injected engine. The only way to make it carb powered is to change the intake, add a carb, change distributors and alternater.
You will need a ford engine from the 70's if you want it to come stock with a carb.

Stick with the efi if you dont want to spend time chageing motors when you remove the dash start the car and start cutting wires if car shuts off then then tie the wire back together I just ran a 5.0 in my lincoln cause my sbc was not done being built. It ran awesome never died ran the feature with no rad still never quit but back to the point there you should end up with a total of 3 or 4 wires from in side the dash needed to start and run the car then take fuse box off of wheel well and starp it against fire wall same with the solinoid and itll do just fine but if u can find a sbc id put that in. Oh yea and get ur self a pair of headers.

what redneckhere said run the efi strong motors i ran one in my vic and never died once but like he said move the solenoid and fuse box to the firewal i learned my lesson when my solenoid shattered and wouldnt let me start back up after the race but still ran during the race

efi is stronger and better then carb as long as there is no problems in the system, it taks more time to relocate everything but its worth it in the end uless you decided to switch that efi motor from car to car then its just a big headache
