My Gropp 305 roller puts out more power then a lot of 383s, and stays much cooler. I also have a stock 350 from a 76 caprice that I have had nothing but good luck with. It has about 15 runs on it and all I have done to it is changed the waterpump, starter, and rebuilt carb. As mentioned above good plugs and wires also help to liven them up.

I've had good luck with chevymotors but they don't seem to take the heat like a 318.

stock motors are fine put new stuff on it and its good if you have a after market gear like a 456 and my fav 488 so you have to much gear when you got a gear you use less motor.

6.20 gear makes my stock motor seem like a screamer!
