No extra metal, but I do like to make several passes with the welder ,just change out the package tray with one from an older coil sprung car. They look the same except the new ones don't have pockets for the control arms. You don't have to change the upper part where your springs sit,, just lower part where the control arms bolt up. You also need the brackets for the lower trailing arms. The parts in the pic that are rusty and not black are from the donor car. I used parts from a 74 impala I ran at the fairs last year.

I really like the one I built and if I could I'd stock pile these car. I did a ZRT watts conversion kit and put a 10 bolt under it with 4.56 gears. When using a chevy motor and th350 you can use the stock crossmember and stock location. The front frame horns are very large compared to the 97 and older vics. Tom

this is mine 89 vic with 00 p71 frame built to mild weld rules (car 45x). front end went up a little bit. i was full tracking guys like crazy with it. rear end didnt move at all. if i had to do it all over again i would buy the ztr conversion kit. i didnt have the funds to get it and i had to make my own. it was a pain in the butt but we got it done lol.
