Ok guys, i need some help here....this question could probably be posted in the wiring section too,but here goes.....i just got done wiring my 76 LTD with the following diagram: Now here are my questions....when i hit the switch and pushed the button, the solenoid just buzzed very loud. Do i need to bypass the trans neutral switch becuz it seems like the car won't go into park or neutral but i drove the car(it was even inspected) before i stripped it down for derby prep.Is there some kind of vacuum or something on these older c-6 trannys that i am overlooking? I would be the happiest derby guy around if someone could please help me with my questions. Thank you much, Scott

make sure every conection is clean and it's grounded good and how long has it been since you ran the car i realy dont think it would be anything with the tranny i always ran a extra ground wire to the solenoid but i think its a dirty conection with fords all wires have to be cleaned often hope that helps

The car hasnt been started for about a year now(its been in storage at my dads) but i just started wiring it recently, and its driving me insane ...lol I absolutely love building derby cars(and beating them too of course) but this ford is stubborn ;D

ground the silinoid
can you jump the silinoid with a screw driver? if so its in the switch, if not its either A) dead battery, B) poor- no bodyground C) bad silinoid
my guess would be B
