I have seen pointys last for years, but I watched my brother totally ruin one in one heat on a new ford last year. It kept its point, but it twisted all to hell. And it was real clean and welded.

i was talking about the 60`s bumpers. the mid 70`s are solid but the others are just as good as aluminum foil

ok i figured that wat u were talking about.... all 60s bumpers are just a chrome shell.... some bumpers had steel backing in 73 but most started in 74

my point proven right here on how much you honestly dont know shit about anything. 74-78 are the mopar shock bumpers some come flat some come pointy the pointys are what we call newyorker bumpers.... now as for your whole thing on imp bumpers some imp bumpers are good some arnt and it also depends on how mount it. I have seen guys move the bumper brackets around to help the front and help the flat bumper out. Now in my opinion, the pointy Imp bumper that comes on frontender imps is the shit havent seen one of those ruined in a long time. ? i sure hope your not talking about the 74-75 imperial/ 76-78 new yorker bumpers...... best all around mopar bumper imo is a 74 newport/ new yorker no holed flat bumper

re read my post jack ass pointys are on imps front ender imps and new yorkers 74-78 yorkers came out with points and shocker imps came out with the pointy. the bumpers front enders came out with is NOT a shocker bumper yet it is pointy and much heavier and has cuts out for it to go directly to the frame, your a fuckin tool. ok the pointys are not only new yorker bumpers... 74-75 new yorkers are flat 74-78 newports are all flat 76-78 new yorkers are pointy 74-75 imps are pointy non of the 74s of those had holes in the chrome..... and that is a fact!!!

imperial bumpers are junk. aluminum foil dosent make good bumpers yeah, that "aluminum foil" is pretty weak...what was i thinking running the stock bumper on a frontender imp sucks when people give out information that is not true or wrong, then they have to be babysat and corrected...happens over on wecrash all the time, irritates me..if you don't know for sure then don't say anything at all is my opinion

not bashing anyone, just tryin to help you guys out....it is already out of control at wecrash...you got guys daily asking if such and such car is a good derby car please give me tips to build it when there is multiple pages of info in the thread locators that they don't want to read through..then you have guys just like this cody38x that post up info or answer peoples questions with false information..what is the point of saying anything if it is wrong? i never said i know everything, but i do know more about imperial stock bumpers than cody38x...you guys will learn one day about more things and more cars the more you build and run, take some advice from people who know their stuff every now and then instead of jumping all over them saying we are all great friends here and don't want to bash anyone or hurt their feelings....well sometimes the truth hurts, thats how you learn in life..you have all seen a picture of a frontender imp with the stock "aluminum foil" bumper on it now...if you cut up the brackets a little bit and re-arrange them on the beam then the bumper will hold up well and eventually will just be stuck to the beam like mine is starting to do...lots of labor though to make that bumper like it needs to be...
