im building one of these for the may contest, and itll be my first model derby car ive ever built so im just looking for some insite on the project, mostly just pics of wat you guys do to the frame of subframe cars and how much you cut out, im trying to make it look like a 74 newport no post car too

first move is to get a good yframe. check out the 1969 Dodge Charger (Revell release, it has a blue and white, vinyl-topped charger on the front. It has to be trimmed down a little width-wise to fit under that body.

and don't sweat the fact that you have all thsoe extra parts or that you have to kitbash it. You can make a decent body out of that charger, too... two bodies, one frame = two cars to enter.
Carefully cut the panels out of the tail end of the trunk/bumper if you plan on using the monaco bumper (or at least paint them black, and you can trim out the grille and headlight backers (leave the lower edge though, and it will hold the bumper on better. I learned that the hard way.)

The top car, the little holes are still there. In the bottom one, you can see the wire holding the bumper up (and the wheel falling off)... the little tabs that hold the bumper on are fragile, but worth their weight in gold. You can also see on the lower car where I trimmed out the grille pieces, but the upper car, I cut the whole panel out, leaving just 'headlight buckets.'

its a 70 imp now, almost done too, all i got left is some small interior work, figure out a driveshaft, some leaf spring work and a halo bar, got it bent up and everything, got some paint drying on it rite now actually already

i went ahead and copied 307`s imp picture and did a little fixing up to see the details its a little messy but i like it not my car. i take no copy right infringement

LOL, i now got the halo bar installed, just gotta paint it green yet...... not to bad for a first car i dont think tho

it really isnt. ive seen some bad cars and some were from people that do it a lot! ahaha and it looks pretty good for a first
