Try to get in good with someone at a wrecking yard. You may have to buy the first car from them anywhere from $100 to $500 depending on what they think its worth and then start trading them back to them car for car, cause all they are gonna do is crush them anyway. Thats how I've been doing it, And usualy when they get it back its heavier than when I got it cause I stuff them with all the scrap from the car before and whatever else I have layin around to stuff in em. So it works out for both of us cause I get free derby cars and he gets heavy ass cars to crush and sell for scrap.

no 73 or newer Imperials, that opens up a great big can of worms. find yourself a 63 or 64 full frame Imperial. a little expensive but totaly worth it. if built well youl have a derby car for the next 5 years depending on how many derbies you do. I know a guy here that has a 63 and has rum it in 12 derbies and is getting ready to run it again. it is an indestructable beast.

prerun car would probably depend on the type of car. My first car i traded an old truck to the junk yard for and the second car i paid $250 for then scraped off $100 and then had about $50 or so in parts and misc things so i had $200 total in it. That car was an 84 crown vic it was a fun car to build and i still have it for another run. You might be able to get sumthing in that type cheap also. your mid 80's marqi's, vics, lincolns hold there own pretty good when build good.

ya its pretty slim pickin here in Iowa. we dont have very many cars like that. mostly we have compacts and imports. not very many american made cars are left cause all the junk yards and car yards scrapped the older cars when metal went up in price. so i might half to go out of state for a car
