Does any one race lawn mowers. Im doing my first this year have a 8 inch pulley on the motor and a 5 inch on the rear.

I dont race them, but would love to give it a try..... same goes for figure 8 racing..(except for the $$$ needed)LOL

yea know what you mean i traded a cb for my mower. its an on going project. lol same with my pulling mower

ive made a few racing mowers before, usually ended up blowing the trannys from spinning them too fast. but i picked this up about a month ago, 1958 Ford 120 im gonna hopefully pull it this year at the fairs here was my racing mower til i blew it up

nice how did you get your pulleys to run i cant get to get mine right i either break a belt or they pop off when i push the clutch in. any help would be appreachated

yea i have had my share of that to. so ok a bunch of idler pulleys routing the belts around. gotcha

i might, i dont know if they allow snapper mowers though because of the rear engine

yea i have had my share of that to. so ok a bunch of idler pulleys routing the belts around. gotcha you dont need idler pulleys, just little metal guides around the pulleys to hold the belt on the pulley when you push in the clutch

yea i know that but to route the belt underneath i need idler pulleys so the belt doesnt get tore up

Never done nothing crazy with a mower yet. Had an idea though. Has anyone ever thought of using a pulley and belt system from a snowmobile? I know they are wide, and made for a lot more power. Just an idea.

Don't race any more. If you use snowmobile clutch and pulley get one from an older machine newer ones are usually aluminum,heavier cast ones will spin up faster.

the guys out in Osage City Ks seem to be big on the mower derbies. I haven't seen one. We had a spurt of mower racing back around 1997-2002 ish, but it's died down again (or so it seems)
