anyone ever make there own allthread using a lathe? learning how to do it rite now in college, im not sure if buying round stock and putting the thread in would be cheaper than just buying allthread itself, or if the price difference would be that big or if it would just be a waste of time, cuz I do have a lathe so i could do it but i just dont know if it would be a waste of time or not

depending on the type of solid core roundstock it could be harder to bend and have memory. but its hard to find and you would have to make several exact passes to produce the threads... never done it but always wanted to. just seems like a waste of time

Maybe be worth just making pieces for the front, just put threads on the ends.

Just remember, there's a fine line between saving money and time put into something. If it takes $20 to buy it, but 4 hours to build it, that makes your time worth $5 an hour..... See what I'm saying

another good point... i was just thinking this route for saving money but im really reconsidering it.... BUT would rebar be to hard to do this to cuz i know i could smooth it out decently and put good threads in it but i was thinking it would be he!! on the lathe

i hate it when it takes forever to but the bolt on the allthread.... then you have to spin the bolt on till it goes to the hood

we can only have a foot of allthread per attachment point, so most of it is under the hood welded, so it dont take long to spin it the 2 inchs that it sticks above the hood
