yea thats what i meant sorry does it help at all like strong enough My first car where the strap loosened up i did break my seat, all of my cars last year I strapped and ran a seat bar, never had one break. and to fordlord, Id run it like you have but have the seat bar welded at the drivers post and go diagonally back towards the driveshaft tunnel right in the middle. I have to do the same thing being as tall as i am. this way the corner of the seat will just squish around the bar when you push your seat back

that set bar is small i bent 4 inch pipe in the middle I have also debated different ways of mounting seat bars. I have used 2 methods so far. I'll keep experimenting as much as our rules allow. Of Course I have pics Then this past year I tried a seat bar with legs. Noticed a definate climb in strength. but had problems with welds ripping the floor out. Aftermath Already have a modified idea for the seat bar legs this year. Will post pics later in the season once its created. yea i wouldn't question that bar...it took a half track shot from the rear of an imperial so i think it be good

etown this is how im thinking about building mine. im going to bend a piece of tubing (i have 1 3/4"X10') in to about a 5 ft "U"upside down shape (cut down to fit maybe just taller than your seat for roll over protection) just narrower than the seat. then weld plates to both ends to bolt/weld it in then kicker on each end of the "U" to the back seat area with plates as well. then weld or bolt that in to place i think that will be ok for inspection

i like to use two pieces of c chanel about 4 in wide and 8 to10 in long on the door posts tac weld and bolt add a piece of 3 or 4 in square tubing between resting in the c chanel with a 1/2 in bolt through the chanel and tubing then just heavy tac weld pipe to c chanel strong safe and gives you room for seat to be a little futher back idk if some old duct work might do the fuel cell cover 4 you most of the places i run let us use some rubber floor mats or rubber roof pieces to cover ours but rules change everywhere

for a gas cover im going to build a box with 4 sides (front, top, 2 sides) and hindge on the floor and latch it to the back fire wall so then i can put everything in . its similar to what your thinking of doing.
