I've wondered about this one for awhile...what is the "best" way of positioning the seat bar? i know some people run them straight across from door post to door post and others run from the bottom of the passenger side diagonally to a third to halfway up the driver side door post or else on the bottom of the driver door to halfway up the passenger side

we run are spreader bars straight across from door post to door post I always have thought that a spreader bar was to keep the sides from caving in and no I haven't ever seen one blow out the other side of the car from getting hit in the side thats what we do and it has worked good for us.

I have also debated different ways of mounting seat bars. I have used 2 methods so far. I'll keep experimenting as much as our rules allow. Of Course I have pics Then this past year I tried a seat bar with legs. Noticed a definate climb in strength. but had problems with welds ripping the floor out. Aftermath Already have a modified idea for the seat bar legs this year. Will post pics later in the season once its created.

i like my seat bar between 16-20 inches from the ground because i normaly run my front bumper at 19-21 inches from ground to the bottom of the bumper and i run my rearend at 16-20 inches
where i run the bumper height is between 16-21 inches

I usually put mine a little less than halfway up the back part of the seat, then take a ratchet strap and go around the seat back and the bar. Helps if your seat breaks. This year Im gonna make a reusable adjustable seat bar out of a couple lolly columns I have here. We'll see how they work

it all depends on if all the other peaple run there cars low to the ground then u want the bar to be low if they run there cars high then u want the bar to be high. You want there bumper to hit the bar

at our local fair they dont let us use seat bars its considered a reinforcement cause it stiffins that car some how you got me lol but they allow us to use straps from like door jam to door jam to hold the seat up not sure how it works cause i have never used one but never had a seat break on me either.

If you do decide to use the strap from door post to post, dont do it. Run it from drivers door post around the seat and run right up to the bottom corner of the passenger side windshield opening. Going from seat post to post means that when you get hit in the doors the post moves and your strap comes loose then you break your seat like I did.

I posted this on the old site but, the problem i have with this years car is.......I am 6 ft. tall and for me to have enough leg room to drive i need to push the seat back....but when i do this i can no longer run the seat bar from post to post like i had done in the past with my other cars. SO, any ideas of which way you would now run it?Oh yeah....i run bench seats,,, i was thinking about running a pipe from the passengers side door post (diagonally) to the drivers side floor.(this way i could adjust the seat back to have room) as shown below... what do you think?

idk if that will work cause like you said you run bench seats so the whole seat would ahv eto move back adn the passenger side being that close might hold you up
