ive heard of people running both first i read to use the large washer then later at a diff source i read to gut it. then a third guy said buy a new one (haha yea........). havent found any pros/cons of going either way all ive really found is to run one or the other so that the water doesnt flow to freely and enter too fast

I use a gutted thermostat why try to find the right washer when you already have the thermostat?

I use a gutted thermostat why try to find the right washer when you already have the thermostat? Different washers=different options for water restriction or flow...with a gutted thermostat, you only have one option.

I leave mine in but I drill 3 small holes in mine so it still can flow.

i left mine in the first year. is it better to take the entire thing out or to gut the thermostat. the motor is a 302 if that makes a difference

Theres a LOT of opinions on how to change the thermostat. It really depends on what engine and how you have it setup to perform I imagine.
Currently both my engines have stock thermostat settings. Although I might be messing with one of the engines thermostats for next year.

used a washer once and it was a lil thick broke neck, ran with and without, the radiator is relocated in the burban so it gets a new one,the cars dont keep radiators so i gut them

Either way will work. A 25lb radiator cap and good hoses go a long way too.

well i just learned that its better to leave the thermostat in cause if you take it out its hot coolant going into a hot engine so th eengine never cools down
