Whats your favorite GM derby engine? 250,302,305,307,327,350,396,400,454,Etc. And, Which is the cheapest to build?

I like 350's they are hard running motors for the street and the derby ran a few of those in the derby as for the cheapest to rebuild don't know cause I always just ran them if they ran I ran a 350 rocket in my first derby car that did well until it got really hot

ran a 350 last year and that did extremely well for us. ran perfect and never died once. 305 seems kinda small to me but i know theres alot of people that are firm believers in them. around here its a "tiny" motor but id run one. ive also heard alot of people that run 307's bc they do so well with heat

I had good luck with a 1971 400 smallblock 4-bolt main chevy....Ran engine 6 years with multiple feature wins on it.Awsome torque and never quit once.

350. Its a cheap build if your going stock. But once you got high performances it get expensive. They run good hot, or cold.

This Thread should be called drive train because it is all about the setup Engine ,Gears, and Tires and car weight. Power to the track. Not to much or to little if something is working to hard something is not working hard enough.

cant beat a mid 70s chevy 350 perfect derby motor without any mods

i got a couple 305ho..they are my favourite ..i also like my 350lt1..they are cheap and easy to rebuilt and love the heat

305 350 igot a 425 olds that makes good torque and loves to run hot my old lady ran it 40 min no water and won the 2008 powder puff championship at smithton hole with it then i ran it at another venue 20to25 min stillrunning strong tuning up now but my favorite is 305 or 305ho
