simply notch the rearend twice or simply prebend it or the back will plow fast, hit minimally with the backend because its very weak imo, put a good bumper on the front (monte or 74-76 chevy) and hit with the front, then weld weld weld

they make great cars for wire only or chain n go derbys. Fronts are strong but I love to put the trunk up to the roof.

would the front hold up if u only used it. I have a 77 impala and from the back of the humps to the back bumper the frame is gone on the bottom i thought about rolling it up with a skidsteer and going foward.

I certanly wouldn't say to never hit with the back. The back is weaker then a ford's but it can still be used.

I double notch all mind and build the nose the noses are tough and I use the rear to push people out of my way but now that I've ran a few of these I'd definately say prebend the rear

I run mine into a big dump trailor tipped all the way up. Get the back going up just a little. Put a notch just behind the humps, never had a problem with the rears. Fords are all together a tougher car when built, but I like gm's for wire only derbys so I can run a sbc. They are good cars to trash in one show because you can still find them cheap.

Both cars in my signiture pic are metric gm's built for a wire only show, get the back packed in as much as you can,,,, then turn around. By the way thats me whoopin on my little brother. ;D That soft a$$ed gm got 2 1st's and one 2nd before it went to the shredder, and it made a lot of hits with the back.

I love these cars I make a large V notch back by the end of the bumper shock and then another cut about 1 to 2 inchs wide but not down the sides by the body mount nearest the humps. Another good thing to do is pound the humpes in it will help keep the humps from collapsing early on. If you cant weld bumpers on use shocks from the 70s gms they will compress all the way and bolt a good steal bumper up front I like 80s ford bumpers but have had great luck with just about any good non pointy bumper of the front of these cars. For a rear bumper I just bolt the chrome shell with out the backing to the rear shocks. Its up to you on what you do with your trunk lid I have tucked ran without one ran in stock location wired up and had good luck with them all. TOM

I'm building a 79 caddy for my local show and I want to put a pointy front off a 70's olds. Its a bolt up swap. I built some brackets out of mopar shock brackets cause they are longer and thicker than the stock ones and shoved them as far as they would go into the frame horns and am going to weld the bumper plate right to the end of the horns. then prolly weld some kind of bracket to the outside of the frame also. My question is will this bumper be to much for this car? any other ideas would be great.
