Plus for the low budget demo person, they are easier and lots cheaper to find that a GM 10 bolt, tho prolly not as strong

ford 9s are prolly the best all around rearend, gears are cheap and easy to come by, much much easier to work on, Just make sure you get a 31 spline setup. The center section or third member is the most costly part, if you come across a good third member housings and gear can be found cheap if you know where to look

nine inches are extremly easy to work you dont need a shim kit for it or nothing i would recommend a full spool instead of welding it together...if you have a 31 spline center and axles it can be change easy just get you a different gear and center and axles and there you go got another set up in the corner

Hey everyone, I have a 31 spline rear from a 70s Ford pickup... My plans are to run a full spool, better gear, gut out the brakes but leave the drum, maybe a brace, but I'm converting it for 80's coil sprung fords.
Anyone have experience with a pinion brake setup? I take off the calipers from the front of fords, so rear braking is the what I'd like to stay with.
Thanks,
Dave

I bought my brother a pinion brake from Mikes derby shop for christmas. It works great. I would like to get one for myself,, as I always tend to have trouble with brakes at the last minute.
