I wasn't really scared or nervous my first time out. I've been around derby's my whole life. I just wanted to go out there and impress my dad and my good buddy Eddie. (R.I.P buddy). If I was anything that day, it would be pissed. My front tire went flat on the way down. I had a spare. My sister pissed me off. And my mom wouldn't stop complaining about how wired I was. She thought I was going to get hurt, or hurt somebody else. If you do it once you will become addicted. My dad and I call it legalized road rage. Cody did I miss something here?? Where did you run? I dont remember seeing you run yet.....

Next month is going to be my first big car derby and im already getting excited. lol I didnt make it out of my heat. look to the left to see my first car.

My first derby, I didn't even want to derby. My brothers were going to do it for their first time too, and finally they talked me into it. Two weeks before the derby and i didn't even have a car. So I found a 1987 Buick skyhawk for $200. I had no clue on what to do and this was before wecrash or any of these helpful forums. I simply just read the rules and did what they said I needed to do. I was no stranger to the welder so that part was simple. So, I built the car to the rules, with no knowledge of tricks or tips. I remember heading into the arena thinking "this is going to be fun". and after the first hit I knew it was. I proceed to hit every car until I was the last one remaining. first derby, first place and haven't won since. that was nine years ago and I wont stop till I'm dead or incapable. Now, I do at least two derbys a year, we have a great derby website (bbddn.com), two derby related shows on youtube and recently started promoting our own derbies this year. It isn't about the win to us, its simply about the derby, the build, the friends and the good time. Below is a picture of my first derby car and last years.

My first derby was Sept. 4th 2009...had a 93 corsica..didnt concern myself with anything but having a good time...i was so pumped when it was time to go... i pulled on the track and remembered thinking what the hell am i doing here? They counted down, i backed up and when the dust settled i ended up first in my heat, and first in the feature, and ive been hooked ever sense...
