I was told to spray wd-40 around windshield(on seal) and let it sit in the sun for awhile on a hot day. I also heard that this only works on the older cars( because of the type of weather stripping i guess....with it being old and faulty) Anyway, how do you guys remove your windshields?
My method is by using a windshield knife that i got at auto parts store ($13.99) This works well until i hit one of the metal clips that i couldnt get out..tends to dull the blade quick.......lol

We have a method that works really well. Spray the black rubber with WD 40 while the car is sitting out in the hot sun. Do this a couple times for 2 days. Then use the hood latch cable, or garage door cable is what we use. Use a small flat head screw driver to poke through the now soft rubber and insert the metal cable into the drivers compartment.
Have 1 guy sit on the inside, one on the outside and slowly saw back n forth around the edge of the rubber seal. If done right, you should be able to get the windshield out in 1 piece. I'll have a video on it when we remove the windshield out of one the cars in May.

Take the angle grinder to the blades and sharpen them if they get dull. I usually try to get the seal nice and hot first, cuts like butter. I have become too good at it, both my uncles and a couple friends think I need to do theirs too every year

I usually use a sledge hammer. But when my old man is around I use the wire from the hood release.

we have an electric removal tool called the Equilizer, works awsome. If you use a knife spray the rubber with lube while you cut, makes the blade cut much easier.

i use a small propane torch and a windshield razor knife. the same one the windshield remover guys use. i bought it from the snap-on driver. u dont have to heat it to much if u have a sharp blade in the knife.works great

If you heat the blade, won't the melted rubber just make it stick back together? you know what i'm trying to say?( i mean wouldnt it melt back together into a molten mess of burnt rubber?)just curious about trying this out this year..because i have the windshield removal tool now.

i dont heat the blade i heat the outside of the windshield then cut and then put a wedge between the glass and the post til it cools enough that they dont stick together
