I have a mechanic question for you. While changing the oil I discovered this brown liquid in the air cleaner tube. It was not in the air cleaner itself and not in the oil. What do you think it could be? The car isn't overheating, leaking any fluid, or smoking. The check engine light is on and is running funny. Kim stopped at Advanced Auto and used their computer scanner and it read "PO455 - evap system large leak". Do you have any idea what this can be? Could it any way be the PCV valve? Where is it normally located at? I attached at picture of the brownish liquid in the air cleaner tube. Thanks, Scott

Looks like oil mixed with water evaperaring through the PVC valve, it's in the tube comming from the valve cover to the air cleaner

I was told that these engines have other ways of venting and that you are just supposed to clean the sludge out...

i was told the same thing just clean it out which i did and it's been fine. it don't make since cause it's a air box, only thing that goes through there is air from the air cleaner

egr valve wouldn't have anything to do with it that only operates at crusing speeds and puts exhaust gas back into the intake

Ah there was a very similar question like this on wecrash not 2 long ago. I remember reading it...the guy said he was getting bits of oil blown into his air filter. To fix it they told him to remove some kind of a screen mesh that was probably plugged with gunk. I searched and can't find the thread...no idea what section it was in.
