Thought this was the perfect site to toss an idea out. Alot of talk is made about making demolition derby more main stream, losing the toothless redneck image, and creating a more structured sport. If a positive light was shown on demo derby, like it is on nascar, it would open up many of the doors we'd like to see open. To make something like this happen it would require us as group to band together. It would also require the one thing we,as a whole, have been less then willing to put up, money. I,like many of you I'm guessing, am not rich by any means. the million dollar question is would you be willing to pay $35 to join the movement? The 35 would get you a tee shirt and decal,as well as a year membership to the website that is being built now. I have mixed feelings on the idea, which is why I am asking for other peoples thoughts. what would it take for you to join? Could something like this work? Once I get word that the site is up, I'll post the link, should be up by Tuesday from what I've been told, in the mean time what are your thoughts?
p.s.
This is not my idea nor have I joined just got word of it from a friend who is involved and wanted others thoughts on the subject before I put up any money.

This is the East Coast Derby Site....North East, But East Coast also. Buying a decal and T-shirt doesnt help members join together, i don't try to profit from the members that joined here. We stick together without all of the " nick-nacks" We stay together because we are all into the sport of demo - derby, because we help each other out, and by sharing info, pics , tips, tricks, data, and ideas and not by wearing the same t-shirt. Why pay 35 dollars for a t-shirt and a decal...oh and a free website like they can get here? I am using money that i earn through derby side projects to get everyone here wecrashtoo stickers, and there will eventually be much more...at no cost! please do me a favor, and everyone else here.... and not try to make money off of the members here...i will not have this happen...
* in other words.......do not post the link you mentioned! * thanks, Fordlord...aka Scott

i dont understand why someone would want to pay for a membership to a derby website (when the cost of derbying is high enough the way it is) when there is already a number of sights that have the same information and the give it for free

well I won't pay 35 bucks for a t-shirt and a decal when I can take that 35 bucks and buy new nuts and bolts for my derby car to replace the old ones out of the car don't really understand why someone would want to pay to be on a site anyways I would think it would drive the members away if anything we are all friends here and way cause we love the sport of derbying why try to get money out of a fellow derby driver to pay for your site when we already spend enough on the sport like mentioned before just someone tryin to make a buck JMO

Didn't make the post to upset anyone or anything like that. The idea was pitched to me and my basic respoce was the same as what most of you have said. I just wanted to show the guy that I'm not the only one who feels that way.
