i have a 77 ford f150 with a 400 .030 over. it will start when its cold and it will get warm if you cut it off when its warm it doesnt want to restart. any one have any ideals what it is

the 400 is a hi heat motor i have ran a few over the years some have even vapor locked.stock timing gears have plastic on them that wears and lets the chain slack.if you replaced the timing may b a little tight.get it warm shut it off turn ur distributor till it starts eaiser.good luck

also what carb you use'n?? some will flood them selves when the motor starts geting warm...and cause a hard start... dose it help if you hold the pedle to the floor and crank it over? if so that may be the problem...

i agree these vaper locking is very commen. replace the feul line that goes to the carb and get it as far away from the block as possible

pu coil or key switch can wear out an do thjs ran a few old fords into the ground

yea i have a super coil to put on it and im gonna replace the brain and module and most of the electronics on it.
