ugh..... my tranny went out on our 94 chevy 1/2 yesterday..... its got no first gear and no kickdown, still drivable tho,,,,,,,, hopefully we get a new tranny in there soon cuz i need it pretty soon so i can haul cars with it

Try to find a 400 for it, you will have no overdrive, but they are way better for pulling. Will last a lot longer then a 350 or 700r4.

it actually dont see much pulling, only usually 2 times a year for cattle. and a few times for derby cars but thats all within a reasonalbe distance. most of it is highway driving.....

ya the 700r4 is probly the best for you then, overdrive is nice to have for highway driving. Have you looked into having it rebuilt? There is a shop where I live that does GM trannys for $200 if he doesn't have to pull the tranny out for you. Then you get a tranny with a warrenty. But any chevy tranny will work if you can find one cheap or free.

Oh make sure you don't flush it or change the filter. Once they start going bad it only makes it worse fast for some reason. Seems to work that way for all transmissions.

ok guys good news, tranny wasnt out..... just a fuse went out i guess, put a new fuse in and all 4 gears work now

ok guys good news, tranny wasnt out..... just a fuse went out i guess, put a new fuse in and all 4 gears work now well thanks for filling me in on that... well you lucked out then. any talk of a new motor for that pickup yet?
