doors may be welded, chained or bolted. the chain must not be larger than 1/2 inch, if bolted you may use up to 1/2 inch bolts. if welded the welds must be at least 2 inches long and no longer thatn 3 inches. both welds and bolts must be done at fice points. trunks must be secured at 6 points using bolts or chains. bolts and chain must not exceed 5/8 inch. welds must be a minimum of 2 inches and not longer than 3 inches. hood- must be secured using 2 hinges or bolts at the rear of the hood.. the front of the hood can be bolted chainde or cabled. if chained or cabled the chains or cables must extend to the frame.. bots front and back may not exceed 5/8 inch in diameter there must be four secured points on the hood.. bumper- bumbers must be chained to the frame at 2 places with no more than one foot of slack in the chain NO reinforced or stressed bends in the body or frame. the maximum height of the bumper is 24 inches within the width of the bumper. front bumper isolator and bracket assembly can not be welded. a safety bar may be instaled behind the seat from door post to door post pretty simple rules but i just wrote down all the important ones.. left out all the common sense stuff Any tips on how to build this car within the limitations of these rules would be much appreciated. THANKS

wow cant weld the bumpers thats a bummer...i would chain the doors because the weld lengths arent very long. id also say screw chaining the hood and use bolts and washers.
thats just me tho and idk a whole lot. im just going from what ive been told and how im helping build a car this year. Is that a 302 youre putting in?
This car should do very well. Back ends on the sedans of these cars are rediculously strong so I cant wait to see a wagon ran. Good luck!!

351 windsor..and ill have all thread going through the hood, core support and to the fame. i want to build a bigger leaf pack but i dont really have knowledge on how to do that or go about that. i want to put a better bumper on. the front frame is 38'' outside to outside. and all of the bumpers i come across the mounts are 44'' plus...... how would i go about bolting a bumper on if the mounts are 6+ inches apart from my original mounts?

i want to eliminate those brackets all together. they are very flimsy and i think would crunch within a couple hits... i fully plan on using the front for defense only. but its comforting knowing that if the given situation comes along that i have to use the front of the car for offense. i want my front protected and able to use it selectively.... from the research ive done for this car. the fronts are tin cans ready to grenade. i just want comfort knowing my bumper will hold up. would i have to take the skin off of the new bumper and weld those nuts on with holes pre drilled??? not sure what to do really.. any step by step instructions?? pic's would be great of how to do this

yes the plates you match the holes to bumper brackets drill then weld nuts, drill holes in bumper so they all allign and fit the width of frame.most bumpers the ends are open enough to slide them in , make them as big as you can fit inside.not sure what kind of bumper your lookin for or have.i have used 80s ford and mopar shocks that bolt to outside of frame,we bolt in the orignal hole on shock.collapse shock, then drill through the shock and bolt in your front holes on the frame.always grade 8.hope this helps

If you bolt a set of bumper shocks to the outside of each frame rail, that would put your mounts more inline with what you need for a bumper swap.
