If you keep your costs down, it almost seems more fun. LOL You have less to worry about and less headaches. I used to not care one bit if I trashed a motor or trans, busted axles or whatever. This is my first year of having my whole drivetrain new and modified. I will still run wide open without water, since my motor was built to run like that, but I will surely be watching myself when slamming gears and avoiding axle shots. If you are just in it for the fun.....and could care less about winning, just go cheap.....in all honesty, you'll have damn near the same chances of being the last car running as the other guys. I never go out there planning on winning or even really wanting to win. The only time money ever comes into my mind is when its down to about 5 of us.....then I start thinking....."man, if I can outlast one or two of these guys I can take home some cash." Other than that, I am just there to tear the hell out of other guys' cars.

i paid $250 for my crown vic and i have scraped out rite at $100 off of it so i have only $150, + a lil gas here and there to move it around, in it. It runs very good too. i dont count the cost of working thats more of relaxing time and my escape from things around the house lol.

$300-$400 for a car running or not doesn't matter to much cause my motor is going in it either way.lol As has been stated the cost is up to you. If you want a certain car you will probably be paying more then if any car will do. The list goes on and on from tires to motors the cost is up to you. Best advise I can give is keep everything you can,nuts/bolts... ect. EVERYTHING. The more you save this year the less you need to buy next year.

That is very good advice. Also save things like tie rods, axles, steering boxes, a arms ,,,,you will need spare parts some time. And to make alittle money keep junk batteries, cat converters, starters and altenators,,,,,,,these can all be sold to core buyers.
