ok guys i had a new idea on wat to do with the trunk of my next car.... ill notch it where it says notch, ill also have the fenders creased down the side in the back, i think itll roll in real nice cuz ill pound the fender down rite before the lid starts where i have it so itll go there first cuz thatll be where its notched too, then itll roll again at the low point of where it is inside the trunk... watcha think?

I did something kinda sortta like you idea to my buddies caddy except where you have the notch wrote I had the notch on his car about 6 inches forward all I did though was took a sledge hammer to the trunk lid and beat the crap out of it till he said stop and it kida looked like what your explaining I don't know how it worked cause he got hungup in both heats and he only ran it for about 30 secs and got hung I'll see if he'll send a few pics to me and I'll post them hope that helps ya 307

The biggest problem I see with this is keeping the front of the trunk lid tied down in place since we can only use four connect points total. If you would weld the front end of the lid how long can each of those welds be?

For some reason I dont think that 2 4" welds on the frontof the trunk lid will be enough to hold it in place . Theres alot of force behind a hit and I think that hit pushing forward against those welds will bust it loose. But if those welds do hold it once the back starts to fold up the rest of the trunk will hold it in place. I think if it survives the first few hits it will stay. And I don't think I'd weld or bolt it on the corners. I think it would blow up in the middle because there is nothing there to keep it down. Personally if you use this idea, I would do like you did this year with the two bolts on the front of the lid. Put the bolts equal distances from the center of the lid about a foot or foot and a half apart.

cant you flip the trunk upside down in the the trunk so you dont have to worry about it you can just worry how high it folds

if i do do the welding ill do like a triple pass on each side, the sheet metal will tear before my weld will
