www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQBJpyIRKAQhere is a video from spring explosion 09. I was in the orange and white BOSS car. It was an 80s pontiac parisenne. Car held up pretty good, but I have learned that fords dominate the 80s scene since than. But these cars can still be very competitive in stock and limited weld shows. Got one more run out of it. Got the hood jammed into the carb first time leaving me with no throttle. Rear bent kind of crooked because passenger frame rail was real rusty.

x2 fill that bumper, also add chains to bumper put as much weld on the links that touch the frame as possible, install gas tank protecter, beat the back seat panle back to get your 4 inches. Last car I ran I was hitting with my gas tank protector by the end. Also look for any holes in the frame around the humps,, there should be a couple in the package tray,,, add extra body mounts there, if you think they will catch it use 3/8 grade 8 bolts and a 1" washer,,, then paint the inside of the car when your done. The extra mounts will really help the humps. Put chains around the the hump and around the rear end. This will not only help to hold your rear end in but, if you make them really tight it will help to keep your humps from pinching upward. When you put your all thread through the core support put nuts on both sides of frame and core support this will keep them from getting loose if the core support bends.

load the bumper BUT since u cant flip it, elevate it so the front of the bumper is higher or it WILL go to the ground and look like the car that 82 is hitting in his signature pic

I read the rules,, you have to remember that there will always be other cars that are built beyond the rules, the worst that can happen is they make you take things out,, but you would be suprised what they miss. Its easier to take it off at the track than to put it on. Somebody always gets away with something.

right on just trying to build a good car this year i look at it this way its not cheating its just trying to be captive. i.m going to put the bolts in the humps like u said 82 . i,ll get the bumper bent up .i no that on gm,s just right after the bumper shocks is a spot on the frame were it dips in i thought about filling it with weld i thought about putting some square tubing around the bumper shocks and shove them in weld them up

I was reading through your rules,, here is what I think your options are for really getting the front to sit up. Change to bigger springs,,, put spacers on top of springs,, these would be the right way. If you run short on time you can weld the lower a arm where they meet the engine cradle,, its a small gap, just put a nice bead on both sides and throw a little grease and dirt on it. Your car will still have some bounce because it iisn't welded as close to the tire as it is when you weld the upper a arms,, and stuffed tires give a little bounce too. I got away with it on an impala at 3 different shows this year, its not very noticable if done right. However it is still better to change spring or add spacers because there is no chance of weld breaking then.
