July 22 is the derby but im expecting them to tell me to leave it on the trailer. So if not there then in august there is a big show in Miles City Mt. A bunch of guys really want me to bring it there to run against the imperials. Decisions decisions

I had a 64 ford I got 23 runs out of the damn thing before it belied in the front of the humps by getting sandwiched between 2 wagons.I also ran a 63 merc and only got 2 runs out of that...The leafs and how there mounted make or break the car.Especially the rears.I had the 64 up at Rutland VT I think Tom might have seen it run before.I'm a little concerned about how far back his rear shackles are being mounted. They seem too close to the tire or it's just the pics I'm seeing. It helps to hit square too but I suppose that applies to any car really. If you got a nice leaf pack these cars are tanks and can take an imp out any day.Imps are preferred because fords fronts suck balls. And harder to raise the fronts aswell.

Im trying to prevent or slow it from bellying in front of the humps with how and where the leaf packs are mounted. Just trying to change the point of leverage and transfer it to just in front of where the front leaf hanger is welded on the bottom of the frame. I have put alot of thought into this and It all sounds logical to me. Only way to be sure is to test it out and learn from the results. Any and all feedback is welcome so let's hear everybodys thoughts are on this.

A wise man told me if you dont learn from every car you run you might as well hang up the helmet lol ;D trying diffrn't things is always a good thing or it can go really worng and you never know untill you try it i like this build and the car should be a good one everything you have done looks great to me can you use 9 wire in the car if so i would run it to the roof to a body mount or around the frame before the rear

Just seems to me that the car will fold up to where the leafs end.Witch all leaf cars do especially these fords.Your tires will be pretty damn close to impact. Why don't you try meeting somewhere in the middle? It's obvious where it dumps in front of the humps check it out and give a 2nd thought into this.I don't have a car in front of me atm (too busy with my project) but food for thought for you...

9 wire will be going from roof down to the frame right where the original hangers are. And I have always planned on it folding up in the back. They bend at the window of the frame just above the original back hangers. The eyelet on my leaf spring is barely 4" in front of that frame window. Yea a bit close to the tire but im thinking that the shorter rear leaf section will be beneficial. Think of it this way. what is easier to bend? A long piece of metal or a short? Short has less leverage right? So I think short will keep things tight and less prone to shifting unlike a longer section of leafs. Makes sense to me

that does make sense ank it would take longer to bend up it shorter unless if fold between the hangers

As I said from what it looks like from your pictures, they are quite deceiving from the angle of the pics. From the pics it looks like you moved the springs ahead about a foot. Thanks for clearing it up.

That's alot better pic.Looks like a good location too.I had my 63 mercury buckle where that big hole is near that tire too.Chaining the rear to the hump might help that if you can do it.

O ya humps will be chained tight then ill drill and bolt my rear shackles through the frame. Gotta bring my rear bumper height down with that so it actually might bring the eyelet a bit closer to that window in the frame when I chain those humps. I have a pretty detailed plan on this build and every aspect has been well thought out. Just trying to perfect my builds for these old cars so they are not wasted with a throw together build.
