Well did some more tinkering today.Put some heavy oil in today.Lucas oil stabilizer and some 15w 50 and the noise is still there.with a knock this sound should dull with heavier oil.I'm starting to think this is a flex plate issue.Because sometimes it acts funny when starting now, cold even.I put a socket on the crank pulley and turned the motor slowly didn't hear any noises.(clunking etc.)Put a magnet on the oil pan, nothing moving around listening for metal dragging.Cut the oil filter apart and it was as clean as can be.Checked the oil that came out and no metal in that.
Also Started to tare down that other motor I had. That's not looking good either. When I pulled the intake off 4 bolts were broke off in the heads from the intake.Kinda flush with the heads too on the 4 corners.I can't put the heads on from my good motor because then I would have to swap the cam lifters and I would have to drill the block to accept the spider retainer for the roller lifters. All this because of the roller rockers on those heads.

Second vid sounds almost like a loose torque converter bolts or flex plate I had that happen last year also. Start it up and see if u can feel it in the bell housing area. Use a LONG extension put it to the bell housing in different spots if your close it will travel up the extension to your ear. Tom

Took motor out.Flex plate is good.turns out have have a pair of bad rod bearings.1 completely gone other is just a sliver. This is what happens when you run you motor HOT.Crank will need to be reground.I may need a rod or 2 also.Found the metal shavings in the pick up screen and in oil pan by drain plug lodged against the threaded plate welded to it.I'm gonna throw my heads on the other block and wing it.Who cares if I throw my cam out with my roller rockers...It's just a junk spare motor.Count down is on.I'm going back to work.

Working as fast as I can to get a motor together.Taking a break from the heat atm...Let me know if you guys like the size of pictures that I upload.I can make them smaller.I think bigger is better for detail though. Also for those of you who don't know how to identify a roller motor... If you have this under your intake it's a roller motor.

The first 2 pictures above was shavings that were ALL IN PICKUP TUBE! I know why it failed.I pushed my luck running light weight breakin type oil in severe hot running temps. From my tuning. With no coolant at 300° or more.Testing my hot starts.Power and performance.I noticed the oil was burning through the breathers...I've ran dry block motors before with no issues but the key there is to run heavy oil.
Anyways.Got another motor all put together and in the car already.Just need to add the motor mount bolts, accessories, set timing, and tune this motor again.I think I'll have it done in another full work day.Won't be home tomorrow.

She's alive boys.As of 9:30AM. Not the rabid dog she once was though. It's like going from a 2 dog sled team to a single...That's the difference in power....She also runs a little hotter so I will need to put a bigger Radiator in it after it cools down though. It's all tuned and ready to go otherwise as far as the motor. The other difference between these motors is that this one is expendable.I got a message from Frank Roberts I need to take another bar off my cage on the passenger side going from the front to the back before I run also.

Just got home 2:30pm July 5th.... Truck lost a wheel bearing about 25 miles outside of Rutland VT.Had a couple of Tom's buddies come to my aid with an air grinder to cut my old bearing off the shaft...I waited until 7am when parts store to open on side of road for the delivery.Took about 5 hours after that to finally get the old bearing off after asking around for the tool I needed.I was also pounding prying trying to use a hack saw on the hardened steel.Didn't have any of the proper tools I needed But managed to get it together to the point where it would work. Not that any OTHER time I would have had all the tools I needed on me but that's just how my luck works.Good thing I had my generator and air compressor with me though...
I got hung up on my 2nd hit.First Hit I put someone on the wall.2nd Hit...Well I went after someones tire (passenger side shot) and my bumper cleared the tire and pushed the humps in and the tire got behind my bumper.
