Heres what I've been working on for the curious minds. Built to Stoney Roberts rules. 89 vic with internal gussets.Police package 351w.p72 Car now has a 398w stroker.Full MSD ignition. C6 trans. 4:11 Detroit locker 9 inch 31 spline rear end. My version of the ice cube in the Ford version.I had the motor running for 30 mins the other day.(couldn't restart due to bad starter)Still working on tuning issues.I think I have that taken care of now but the motor has a radiator and water in it now but 30 mins it plenty for me with 10min heats max and a 10 min feature.Radiator is just a bonus.. One of the pics has mud on the 1/4's due to a recent joyride ;D Also seemed to have dug up a harmonic balancer that got caught on the 1/4 panel . Probably got to close to my junk pile with all that torque from fishtailing and doing doughnuts.

Well I think I'm pretty much done tuning it.I have a slight hesitation off the line.I don't think I can do anymore about it. I advanced the timing a bit yesterday and that helped a lot.Tried to go more today didn't help anymore.I've been playing with the accelerator pump adjustments all day long.My autolite carburetor 1.33 venturi has the biggest shooter that it makes also.I got it to the point where the car don't die on me now after a hard acceleration (pedal straight to the floor). I'm wondering if I should change the primary jets if this would help. The spark plugs show that the engine is running great.very slight richness to it. just for shits and giggles today I warmed up the car to about 350°f at the heads (fans off on radiator) with my digital thermometer the car fires right up with no effort at all 3-5 pumps of gas tried both letting the car sit for a minute and starting up immediately after shut down. After turning on fans car runs at less than 150°f with a 160° T stat with 3 holes drilled into it. This was with the weather at 66°f outside today. Will probaly have to tune more when warmer weather comes

So I got home tonight and looked at my pack of springs and bushings next to my computer (where I keep them so I don't lose them) And I thought I'd look at the timing curve chart as well it appears when I changed the springs today and moved the timing that I actually made a slower curve because I used the 2 blue springs instead of the 2 silver springs witch I thought were the lighter ones because they looked heaver than the blue. I'm gonna give this a shot tomorrow and see how this works out.
It's a good thing I'm always thinking about my build such a simple backwards mistake I can't believe that I made.

i agree. a good looking build on an ugly car. Not many who run fords with fords. It seems to me, and keep in mind i really dont know anything about demolition derby cars, that there is a ton of crap on the front of that motor. ? I hope to someday turn my 307 olds into a fire breathing monster similar to this. Cant wait to see how it looks after.

Well I cured my hesitation issue 100%while doing so the sheriffs showed up today.New neighbors were complaining of loud noise. ;D sheriff said I'm not breaking any and to try to keep it down or keep it short.I told him I was planning on it I just wanna tune this and I'll be all done gas costs money.I had the carb off by the time he showed up also.I said I know I'm not breaking any law It's was also 1 in the afternoon.Apparently he was told people were sleeping. He also went on to say that that motor was damn loud and he heard it down the road.Basically just wanted me to do what I can to keep the neighbor from calling so much. After fixing the issue and sheriff left I Fixed the hesitation issue and had one last timing curve adjustment to make.Well when I pulled the distributor the oil pump drive shaft dropped into the oil pan >:(so now I gotta pull the motor or at least raise it to drop the pan and fish it out.

Still working on the motor.Thought I had hesitation worked out today I drilled out the squirter that seems to help. The motor is not skipping that is a result of the cam.The motor was warmed up prior to start forgot to turn on ignition first try.Still need to install new starter.Bendix is bad on current one.The yard was very wet so I had traction issues going up that hill after sliding out near the 83 Lincoln.Cops were called on me again today for loud noise ;D ;D Yes I hit my trailer. Not sure why car stalled out like that, that's a first it did that.

So I'm getting ready to put on front clip now.My question is when I cut the hole out in the hood. How big should the hole be and witch direction(s) to fold it for strength.Front/back sides etc. What benefit is there to folding hood in front of core support?Usually I run without a hood so I'm looking for ideas, concerns, experiences anything really as far as input.I have my core support spaced up 2 inches I'm not going anymore than that.Because where it is now it's hard to get my radiator with my bumper the way it is.I'm going to put spacers between the fender and the core support to compensate for my tilt/low core support.

I only cut holes just big enough for the headers
