4.56 with a small block. Actually, its a good "all around" gear in my opinion. you could use it with any motor on any size track.

just gas on that 273 weld it s spider gears and balls to the wall LOL you can still get that ring shot i think that gears dont matter and its more like throttle management higher gear higher rpm higher temp it just makes sense to me and the added torque is harder on the drive train but it is fun to have a car that gos 0 to20 in ten feet so do what ya want but i like the whatever came in it

Personly I love to have a lower gear, I only run stock gears in stock class cars. If it doesn't have bia's I would look into setting up a 9inch, they are cheap and 10 times easier to work on, especialy for if you nead to change an axle at the track. I leave the housings under the cars and keep two 3rd members with different gears for different shows, takes me 20 min to swap 3rd member or axles in a 9. Don't get me wrong they are still good rears I just wouldn't put money in one without bia's.

I do believe it is a BIA. Not sure what im gonna do with the rear end yet, gotta wait to see what the new rules for the mod class say.

Yeah, 9 inch rears are dirt cheap. I have a pile of them. Can't even hardly give them away. Everyone here in my area has a pile of them too. It would be different if they didn't last, but each one seems to last for years and years.

well i believe i have figured out what axle is in the buick, it dont look like any GM rear Ive seen before, round cover with ten bolts but with 2 cutouts inline with the axle tubes, was told its a 8.2 Pontiac which means it has BIA's.
