I would love to use a steering wheel spinner in the next derby,i know the dangers that could be involved, but i know i am willing to chance it....has anyone else used one in a derby before?

i have never used them myself but i have seen people use them. I wouold like to use one to for a derby i think it would allow you to make better turn faster.

I don't see a problem with it as long as your wearing a full face helmet. Wouldn't want to eat one

i havent seen any rules against it where i run at, but i could make it a quick connect type thing...with a wing nut or maybe a pin to hold it on,i would just strip off enough plastic from the steering wheel,so i could weld a plate on with a hole drilled in it,then add the spinner when ready...

I'm not sure they dont allow them around here but if your good with your hands you dont need one I usually am able to use the palm of my hand to spin the wheel...until mud, rain,or any other liquid gets on the wheel...then its nearly impossible....surely you have dealt with those variables....

It may actually be safer in a way, Whenn people grip the steering hard and then get hit in a front tire the steering wheel can take your hand off. I hyperextende my elbow once, I let go of the wheel but my hand still got caught.

I don't think it is a good idea. When you turn and hold on the knob your arm crosses in front of you. A good hit and your looking at a broken arm or dislocated shoulder.
