About half of the times I run, my headers end up loose at the end of the heat. Anyone else have this problem? I have tried using lock washers and still had them come loose , any ideas? And they always start out with every bolt tight.

run shorter stacks, i have found the taller they are the faster they work loose for some reason.

Have ran several different stacks between my brother and I. Haven't really had a set that always stayed tight. Seem to always come loose when the motor gets ran really hard. What do you think about using some form of Loktight? Just dont want to end up with stuck or broken bolts either.

i think the heat of the head will mess with the lock tight. at auto zone you can get locking bolts, they have wires that come with them and a set screw to hold them in place. but i have noticed on all my motors taller/heavier ends up being loose.short and light usually stay tight.

You know I seen those on a stock car years ago, totally forgot about it. Thanks for the idea, I will be buying a set before the next derby. I just know that when the header comes loose its blowing all that hot exhaust right at the head . Thanks again never would have thought of it. Might have to exalt you for that one.

good point, I don't want extra heat anywhere. It is no good for anything.

I have seen drivers retightening the bolts inbetween the heat and feature. From all the hard hits and the heat of the engine, I guess they are bound to slowly loosen up sooner or later.
I always retighten mine after the derby. But I have short stacks, so usually not many bolts are loose at all.

The new locking header bolts have a set screw in the end of them that makes the bolt spread open. Pretty cool looking.
