Here it is.....my 2010 feature winning car.....1977 Ford LTD This car was owned by a farmers wife who only racked up 47,184 miles on it. The body has some surface rust around the headlight sockets, but the rest of the car is rust-free This car has a 351 Windsor engine with a DuraSparkII Ignition System, Autolite 2100 carb. C-6 transmission, and unfortunately a 8 3/4 rear-end. This car's inspection is still valid!! About 95 % of the car is stripped inside/out.( I have been keeping track of the hours and weight reduction for the hell of it too, so i will also be posting them as the build progresses) So until the next time, this is what i have got done.

are u leaving the nose on? and is it metal or fiberglass? it is metal...and i was thinking about adding some welds and keeping it on there...extra metal was the reason behind that decision.

Here is the type of fan that i have always used. You can find them on mid-upper 80's and low 90's S-10's or on low to mid 90's grand caravans (they are electric on these though,so you just need to take the fan off the elec. motor) Now, I'm sure that there are many more vehicles that have this round plastic fan,but i KNOW i can find them on the ones listed above. I'll add another car pic to show exactly how low this car is sitting, and to take comments on how to get it lifted up 10-15 inches.........

The rules arent real strict about suspension bounce or height(as long as you don't go over board)I just want to get the car back to where it should be as far as ride height, and then add another 5-10 inches onto that. ;D You will see how bad the rear suspension is in the following pics...... this pic is with rear bumper and gas tank on car(empty tank) and after removal of both parts(bumper for repairs) it is much more evident in person because there is a large shadow under car in this pic,,,but u should still see a difference in how much higher the rear came up afterwards.... some other pics of tank removed from car... I needed to finish cutting tanks straps out at this point..... and a pic of my unwelcome 8 3/4 rear end..... and last but not least, a pic of the hole cut out for my shifter

Make sure you leave plenty of extra room around the shifter going through the floor. Sometimes the floor will bend right there and prevent you from getting into gears.

Sometimes the floor will bend right there and prevent you from getting into gears. good point...but have never seen it happen before....either way i cover the hole back up with rubber floor mat because i have seen the effects of an exploded tranny, and hot fluid on the legs/alum shrapnel before. If i can eliminate all of the variables i def. listen, and take good advice because even if i never seen it,i'm sure it has happened to someone

yeah I'd cut the hole bigger for the shifter to just to make sure and for hieght I think I'd try to either get bigger springs for the back or stretch those one in it out. its looking good so far though scott.

never had a car not bend the floors.....
the things i would change right off the bat would be- get a closed face air filter get the front and back jacked up tires swap the rear for a 9 inch (they came in those year ranges so the trailing arm setups should match up) hardnose the bumpers (throw them in a fire, melt the rubber out and reweld the plate to the box and rebolt them)

If you mount the front bumper flush against the frame you'll need to loose the trim. It don't help any on these older Fords.
