More updates! Got the back bumper brackets welded in place now Seems to be pretty solid Crossmember is moved further back, since the 80's style oil sump pan will sit further back in the car. We used the stock frame mounts, but bolted it back deeper.. Looks like it will work good, any thoughts on this? Frame is back under the car now. The back frame has the notches cut also, but no pics of it yet.

Again Updates! Busy working away. Notches in the frame I made a very small heated slice further back for a 2nd notch. Experimenting with this spot. Back bumper is mounted! It sits pretty deep into the car...touching the back body. I had to hammer some clearence for it to fit..or so I hope it fits once the body is back on. Bolted and welded on

New updates. Got a new transmission for the car. Rebuilt C6 with only 10,000 miles. Engine is FINALLY clean of all the old fuel injection parts and wires. The body is back on the frame. We had clearence issues with the back bumper since it was collapsed to the frame. Our rules say no creasing of any metal or prebending....But we had to hit the metal to get the body to fit back on the frame. We will see what the officials say. All body mounts have been replaced. Got bored with spray paint. The engine will be going in soon!

With a little fabbing you could cutimize a filter. Cut your fiter down, get a short piece of steel pipe from the hardware store. Just depends how concerned you are about it. If its a hard hitting show with well built cars and good drivers, I would do something about it. Just depends on what your up against. I just know I've been in a few derbies where my engine ends up tilted or flopping around in my carand I'm never ready to shut it down.

Started work on making the floor shifter. Took the back bumper is off my green lincoln and I will be using these bumper shocks for the front frame of the Thunderbird. Instead of the I-beam shocks. These will be easier to weld in place and hopefully help keep the front frame from bending bad by the core support. I think the back bumper is still good to use again too.
